I don’t know about you, but for me, there’s something so romantic, feminine, girly and pretty about lace that immediately draws me to it. I have a sneaky suspicion though…….that all girls are like this, in particular when it comes to wedding dresses. Lace has that ability and X factor to just instantly put the ‘wow’ into a garment. For a particular textile that has been around since the 16th Century, it definitely equates an enormous amount of history, elegance and Royal allegiance that leaves peoples love for the fabric as popular as ever. So popular in fact, that fashion designers feature it in their collections for both summer and winter seasons.
Did you know it took a team of twenty-three lace makers to create the lace (known as Leavers Lace) for Kate Middleton’s wedding dress for the Royal wedding – and it only took SEVEN years to train in the craft!!!
To be quite honest, this outfit post is basically the result of me going into H&M one day with the HOPE that I wouldn’t see anything to buy and lust over and then just leave the shop after having a quick browse and window shop! But NO…….it never happens….does it? It was one of those days near the end of the month when you’re hanging on for dear life for pay day and you basically want EVERYTHING in the shop! Damn you retailers and your endless supply of new fabulous stock!!!!! So a couple of shopping bags later (I did manage to pick up quite a few items for my two ‘urchins’ also – can’t be forgetting them ha, ha!!!) I left H&M with a heavy credit card guilt hanging over me but some fabulous items in-tow……lets get priorities straight here!
So as you can see……..the little ‘evil-shopping-voices’ got to me and made me purchase this fab white lace blouse! I was (like any girl) completely drawn to it. I mean……how could you not be? I have to say, the quality is fab on this. Yes, H&M can be ‘hit or miss’ on some items and occasions but for a lot of the time, they get it right! The sleeves on this blouse in particular, just sold it to me. It’s the kind of blouse you can wear ALL year around, will look fabulous with skirts, trousers, jeans, shorts, etc, can be used under a suit for work and ‘jazzed’ up with some beautiful statement necklace pieces for a night out – so the outfit combinations are endless. The large lace appliqués on the blouse also make it quite current and from looking online, I see there is also a skirt to match the blouse which could be a fab co-ord!
I loved the green skater-style skirt when I saw it (also available in a multitude of colours including black, white, red and mustard) as I love GREEN! Maybe it’s coz I’m Irish ha, ha, but I love this particular shade of green when it comes to colour and again is a shade that is wearable in both winter and summer seasons. The skirt consists of quite a heavy cotton textured material with the added bonus of an almost tummy-tucking high-waisted band which certainly helps pull my middle area in a bit which is always good when you’ve had a baby 7 months ago……yep…….still trying to shift that stubborn baby weight!!! I did purchase the skirt just before St. Patrick’s Day also so yes – it came in handy as part of my Paddy’s Day outfit!
Accessory-wise, I went for this gold-ball statement piece also from H&M from quite some time ago but it’s one that seems to work with a lot of items and also adds a bit of fun to the outfit. As you can see my Instagram husband is making a rare appearance here in one of the gold balls which I mentioned recently in an Instagram post ha, ha – and yes bribery always comes into play when it comes to taking pics for the blog!
The bag is a limited edition Michael Kors studded Selma and the boots are my favourite little patent black booties with gemstones which I got just before Christmas from ASOS and which I seem to be living in these days as again – they just go with everything!
