Ok lets face it, it’s April in Ireland which means it’s Springtime, right? Wrong! It may be Springtime but winter is most definitely there…..in the background…..lurking around and fooling us everyday! One minute the sun is out, next minute it’s lashing rain with hailstones, snow and a gale-force wind and then the sun is out again?!? Wtf? This is not a weather forecast blog by any means….I’m just reiterating how ANNOYING Springtime in Ireland can be!
Bascially, you don’t know if you need your bikini, suncream, sunglasses, rain-coat, umbrella, gloves, thermal vest or fifty layers on you each day!
It’s also that weird transitional time of year where you are between winter and spring/summer clothes and you honestly somedays just want to continue wearing your seasonal winter hues and black tights – coz you know…….it’s safe, it’s what we know, it’s comfortable and it’s still like bloody winter out!
So……my question in this blog post is! Is it white jeans weather yet? Anyone???? Well, look…..there are no rules these days when it comes to fashion, anything goes – which is the way it should be! But there is something about white jeans that just epitomises summer in every way! They’re bright, can be flattering, they’re fun, go with every colour, look amazing with all types of footwear and can be taken effortlessly from day to night.
The look for this weeks blog post is a simple smart casual look all revolving white jeans…..obviously ha, ha. Just recently we’ve had a spate of really nice Spring weather so I dug my Sportsgirl white jeans out of the wardrobe and paired them with some neutral pieces and a powder blue jacket/coatigan. Can I just say I am LOVING powder blue these days and it’s definitely a key colour for this Spring/Summer. It can be seen all over the high street at the moment – from off-the-shoulder tops to dresses and shirts. The coatigan itself is a little bargain I nabbed in River Island in Dubai last summer in the sale. Funnily enough, coats aren’t big business in Dubai (I wonder why, ha, ha!) so you will always find a multitude of them in the annual sales. This one was originally something ridiculous like €120 (approx AED530) – yep – some of the high street stores in particular River Island and Topshop hike up their prices like you wouldn’t believe in Dubai (did someone say ‘hidden tax’ he, he). So I grabbed this in their sale for €30 (approx AED150) and just KNEW it would be something I would always wear and be a fab spring/summer staple piece in my wardrobe.
I’m also featuring the newest little love in my life – which is my YSL classic monogram leather grain satchel!! Omg…..I was so excited to get this! For me, it just symbolises a classic bag that is timeless, an investment and can be something I eventually hand down to my daughter (if she hasn’t stolen it first lol). I got the medium size as the small was just way too small and would basically hold a credit card!!! So this is the perfect size – I can use it for both day and night, goes with everything and can also double up as a clutch. I knew I wanted this bag for a while and lo and behold – when I went looking for it – it was sold out everywhere online including Net-a-Porter, Selfridges and Brown Thomas to name but a few. The price of the bag was double the price in Dubai so that wasn’t even an option (yes I live in a very expensive city!) so I luckily found it on the Harrods website in London and I have to say the service was second-to-none. It arrived in a couple of days, door-to-door service and packaged beautifully in a Harrods box and then the YSL packaging. Yes…..I was one happy girl!
For the rest of the look, I went with a neutral grey, (I’m also obsessed with this colour) simple and comfy top from H&M with a yellow-mustard colour statement necklace – also from H&M – adding a pop of colour to the outfit. The boots are a little gem of a find from Public Desire. They are a high street dupe of the Christian Dior A/W15 patent, perspex heels and which a lot of retailers have jumped onto the band-wagon and recreated their own versions of these now iconic boots. By far, Public Desire have the best dupes of these and are a bargain at €51.00. They are suprisingly also very comfortable – mainly because of the block heel and look fab not only with jeans and leather skinnies but also with dresses and skirts – another ‘wear-all-year’ item.

This is definitely such a simple look to put together and to wear plus it’s also easy to team these individual pieces with so many other items in your wardrobe. I think most people own a pair of white jeans so the time has come ladies – Spring or no Spring – to dust off the cobwebs on the bright and light pastel Spring/Summer shades and start rocking them again. Who knows even if we’ll get a summer in Ireland this year (always a debatable topic!!) one thing’s for sure though, that hasn’t stopped any of us before. On that note, thanks as always for stopping by and remember……….
