Yes I know it’s May…..but while I really enjoyed our 3 days of summer (R.I.P Irish Summer May 12th-May 14th 2016) it’s gone back to the psychedelic ‘four-seasons-in-one-day’ weather again and its COLD!
So yes……it’s STILL bloody coat weather! As my mother says…….it’s ‘dangerous’ weather…..where we actually think it’s ‘summer’ and delve straight into our summer wardrobes, donning the lightest of materials, flip-flops, sandals, shorts, bralets (ok that’s going a bit too far but you get the gist) only to wake up the next day with full on ‘flu’ coz you know………it’s May and it’s supposed to be summer? No?
But…..enough of the weather forecast chat (even though us Irish LOVE to talk about the weather!) let’s get back to more important fashion related stuff and the fact that – coats are an essential part of Irish peoples wardrobe……ALL YEAR ROUND! Yes……let’s face facts people, we all know we technically don’t get a summer here in Ireland (except for those 3 days we just had!) and maybe the odd day here or there – so whether we like it or not, coats and jackets are part of our make-up.
Personally, this sits very nicely with me as I’m home for a wee while in Ireland and really enjoying getting ‘wear’ out of all my coats and jackets. Living in Dubai does that to you! You literally don’t need a jacket……..only perhaps a couple of days around January/February where the temperature dips……but thats it. So to say I’m mildly obsessed with coats and jackets…….is an understatement. I can’t get enough of them and mainly because I just don’t get to wear them in Dubai. So I’m extremely happy to don every coat and jacket I own when I’m home and of course – buy more, ha, ha!
This outfit is just a very simple, casual, recycled, easy-to-wear look. Nothing is particularly brand new (except for the bag!) so I’ve just paired these pieces from my wardrobe which encapsulate a late Spring/early Summer (when we have it?) vibe with the bright neutral and pastel colours. The tan peg-trousers from H&M – I LOVE – as I find they go with soooo much and can be worn all year round. The top which I’ve also had for a while (also from H&M) matches the trousers perfectly with the abstract print colours and the dusty pink coat is from Zara – who seem to have a version and in particular this colour of coat every season. Of course my ever faithful and ‘blogger-favourite’ Adidas Superstars make an appearance as my ‘go-to’ shoe of the moment and the bag……yes the bag is still winning with everything these days.
I will add that this coat – which I only purchased last year, is the perfect little summer jacket as yes it keeps you warm as a cover-up (coz…you know yourself….it’s still cold and all that!) and the colour is the perfect shade of pink to team up nicely with an array of different summer staples and colours.

Hope everyone has had a good week and enjoying the erm….summer weather?! (Sorry I couldn’t resist lol). I’m finding this blog post quite apt this week because of the dramatic drop in temperature and rain so I don’t feel guilty at all about wearing my winter woolies right now. But you know what it’s like…….next week we may be all having BBQ’s, sipping beer in beer gardens and replacing the coat for the cropped t-shirt. Until then…..take care……….
