If anyone doesn’t know who Monica Vinader is………..where have you been? Have you been hiding under a rock or a gemstone lol? She has created a huge buzz in the jewellery and accessory world and right now celebrities such as Olivia Palermo, Cara Delevingne, Cherly Fernandez Versini and Sienna Miller can’t get enough of her contemporary, unique and very wearable designs. Monica Vinader can also count the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton as one of her fans. The Duchess proudly and famously shunned her more traditional and dazzling jewels and championed the trendy jewellery designer by wearing her Riva Diamond Cluster Drop Earrings and Riva Diamond Cluster Bib necklace – no doubt an amazing moment for Monica Vinader and as we all know, everything Kate Middleton touches, turns to gold!
In the last couple of years in particular, Monica Vinaders’ jewellery and accessory empire has grown from strength to strength with her own stores opening all over the world including London, Hong Kong, Singapore and now Dubai.
A little background about the jewellery designer:
Spanish born Monica Vinader started her jewellery business in Norfolk in the UK as a bespoke service, creating one-off pieces by hand. Production nowadays takes place in India where every stone is cut and faceted by hand from rough, using contemporary cuts, meaning your piece of Monica Vinader is entirely unique. I think this is also one of the reasons why I’m personally hooked on her jewellery and designs, as not only is her work so contemporary, flattering and so wearable – you also have that extra special touch of knowing you own an authentic and unique piece. (I’m a huge fan of the ‘stacking-rings’ idea which Monica is also, so I’m just going to have to start collecting more pieces to stack then I guess – any excuse, ha, ha). Also, for anyone who gets annoyed when they buy some nice jewellery as in bracelets or necklaces and find they hang too big on your wrists or too long on your necks – fear not as Monica has it all covered! All her jewellery has an added feature of enabling the length of the chain on a necklace or bracelet to be shortened or lengthened – whatever is desired. This is perfect for me as I have ‘bird-like’ wrists and always struggle to find something to fit perfectly. In addition to this and something which appeals to the masses out there, another huge reason why this is definitely my ‘go-to’ jewellery brand – is the fact that it is relatively reasonable in price. Monica Vinader herself swears by the ethos…….that “elegant and beautiful jewellery need not be expensive” – in other words, affordable luxury.
First stand-alone shop in Dubai:
I recently attended the official opening of the first stand-alone Monica Vinader store in Dubai. Previous to this, her designs could be purchased in Boutique 1 located on the 2nd floor of the Fashion Dome within Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. Now, Monica Vinader sits in prime fashion and accessory shopping territory in her own store in MOE (right beside Boutique 1 might I add) and I for one, am extremely happy and excited about this. It also means that every time I go to MOE now, I may have to pop into the store…..for a look………or a purchase…….I mean, it would be rude not to!
The evening was right what you would expect from the trendy designer and brand with sophisticated and stylish cocktails as well as eye-catching, delicious and beautifully presented canapé’s and chocolates – you can read more about the opening here (I even pop up in the photos obsessing over the jewellery as usual ha, ha). The store itself is tastefully decorated with stunning marble flooring, exquisite pastel furnishings and of course the ‘crème de la crème’ of stunning jewellery showcased in fabulous glass display units. At one stage, I felt so dazzled with all the beautiful pieces that I needed to take a moment to compel myself, ‘get-it-together-Irene’ and just take it all in and pick out the pieces I want to add to my collection.
There are so many fab and wonderful items in her collection, it’s hard to just want one or two, you feel like you need to have them all. I particularly love the Riva collection and have my eye on the gold circle diamond ring to add to the bracelet I already have. I also love her Siren stacking rings collection and of course the well-known and popular Fiji friendship bracelets. Along with an amazing jewellery range, Monica Vinader (I applaud you!) also provides a free engraving service on her products which undoubtedly is a fantastic service as engraving does not come free or cheap so this is another reason to love the brand even more. Anyone that knows me, knows I absolutely LOVE personalising things and my name, initials etc monogrammed so this engraving service is MUSIC to my ears. I’m planning on getting two of the Fiji bracelets and getting my daughter’s name engraved on one and my son’s name on the other.

Along with spying on all the wonderful jewellery pieces, trying lots of potential future purchases on, mingling with Monica herself and sipping on the fabulous pastel cocktails, there was an artist on-hand to write whatever you like in beautifully hand-written Arabic calligraphy.
I couldn’t resist and got him to write my blog name….Gingham and Sparkle….something which I will always cherish and perhaps put in a little frame? This was such a cute idea and emphasised the fantastic personalising service that Monica Vinader also offers.
I think the highlight for me along with adding almost everything in her collection on my wish list……was actually meeting and chatting to Monica herself. She has such a lovely, genuine, warm presence and really went out of her way to make time to speak to everyone which was so nice. She mentioned how she never takes off her rose gold Riva bracelet which she loves and I understand why as its so fabulous (I think I’d be the same!!!) and her passion and love of her jewellery really came across as she was speaking! Seriously…..whats not to love about this woman and brand!!
It was such an honour to meet the innovative, extremely talented and creative designer herself that I came away thinking and completely inspired about how amazing this woman is to start off her career and business creating one-off pieces of jewellery and now here she is with celebrity clients and royalty queueing up to wear her pieces and opening her own stores all over the world – UH-MAZING!!
On a final note, I just wanted to chat a bit about the fabulous goody-bag I received. Inside was a gorgeous sterling silver Siren round pendant – which can be engraved for free at any time by just popping into the store and also a lovely hand-written note from Monica! Such a perfect little gift and thank you again to Monica and all her team.
If anyone happens to be in Mall of the Emirates, pop in to have a look, I promise you – you will leave with a wish list as long as your arm (I think I must have a long arm coz this wish-list is growing like wild fire!!!). The store is located on the 2nd floor within the Fashion Dome area and next to Boutique 1 so it’s very easy to find.
Also shopping on www.monicavinader.com is so easy (almost too easy!!) and with free shipping to the UAE – there really is no excuse!
