Lets face it……..we don’t exactly have the pleasure of all four seasons in Dubai. We have Winter (admittedly way too short) and Summer (goes on for far too long!). So when all the anticipation starts simmering for both Spring and Autumn…..I can only live precariously through my home country (Ireland) and long for those crisp Autumn mornings when the leaves start to fall and those brighter Spring evenings with fresh daffodils everywhere. Is it obvious already I miss seasons (and home!)? Yes I do, but thats a whole other blog post waiting to be written. For now……I’m gonna chat about all things ‘Spring’ and how getting onboard the latest Spring fashions and fresh looks of the season makes me less homesick.
If you haven’t guessed it already, I’m talking about one of the biggest trends for SS17 and one which began to creep in by the end of Autumn/Winter last year – floral embroidery. Yes florals are back….but back with a twist. For this season, think bright, colourful, very large floral prints embroidered onto a blank canvas (think poplin shirts, leather, denim and knits in particular) and which you will see all over the high-street for Spring/Summer this year. The trend is so wearable and seen on everything at the moment from clutch bags and jeans to coats and skirts and has that ‘Spring is in the air’ vibe which is always a good thing….right!?
For this look, I touched on the trend with this fab funnel-neck embroidered knit (which is on sale now) from New Look and a pair of cute white lace-up trainers with a gorgeous floral patch of course from River Island. The trousers are a sale bargain from Zara and compliment the jumper by picking up that fab pastel pink shade in the embroidery detail. The large maroon colour clutch bag is also a little sale purchase from Zara and again suits the tone of the whole look. Separately all these pieces are so wearable and I know will see me through to at least next Autumn.
Luckily for us here in Dubai, we are experiencing some nice cool weather for a change (it’s Winter here right now – not Spring!) so I can’t envisage myself wearing this jumper from April/May onwards (as it’s safe to say I would probably melt) but I will probably need it in Ireland for the summer months though which I’m very happy about ha, ha!
So seen as the high street is awash with this trend at the minute, here’s a few of my favourite pieces…..get them before they’re gone!!
River Island black embroidered floral hackless loafers (here) .
Giving off serious Gucci vibes, loafers are also another trend that have taken the high street by storm. I knew I had to have these particular loafers when I saw them and such good value at €40! Plus they are super comfy.
Zara Embroidered Sweater (here)
This is one sweater that I think many of us have seen a lot of on various blogs and Instagram accounts. I’m still lusting after it and theres a fab little knit mini-skirt to go with it! #tempted
Zara gingham floral shorts (here)
Of course I had to mention something ‘gingham’! Again……another massive trend for SS17. There is something so cute and girly about these high-rise shorts though. They would look so fab with a white shirt and black loafers.
Mango embroidered stud jacket – (here)
So this is the problem when you start looking up various online retailers, you just want EVERYTHING including this amazing jacket! I’ve seen a couple of other stores stocking something similar (Topshop also have a fab one) but this Mango one is up there as one of my fav’s.
Zara mid-rise floral embroidery jeans (here)
I always feel Zara is my ‘go-to’ place when it comes to fab looking stylish jeans and these are certainly no exception. I love the floral detail obvs but the length is so on-point right now, these would look amazing styled with both heels and flats.
Topshop Floral Embroidered Shirt (here)
Topshop just always get it right in terms of being ‘ahead-of-the-game’ when it comes to trends and style and this fab shirt ticks all the right boxes for SS17. Sheer fabric and floral embroidery detail – two trends in one……this one is a no-brainer.
Miss Selfridge embroidered bucket bag (here)
I think that this bag will get you through every social event this summer…..from festivals to summer bbq’s to nights out and holidays plus it’s the perfect little accessory for transitioning back into Autumn. I may have to add this to my online basket……
Back to me in the desert (he, he) ↑. I’m not quite sure how I managed to stand for these pics without falling over as I’m actually balancing on a slope whilst sinking into the soft sand ha, ha. Just to add, the day my ‘Instagram husband’ took these photos, a shamal (desert sandstorm) was lightly blowing so between eating sand and my hair blowing all over the place, I hope I’ve managed to not look completely ridiculous ha, ha!
Hope you enjoyed this as much as I loved scoping around online
(and shopping) looking for my favourite embroidered pieces. Thank you as always for stopping by, see you all soon and remember…………
Here I am…….looking quite ‘Lawrence-of-Arabia’ and wondering where all my camels have gone lol!!
