I don’t know what it is……but it seems 70’s fashion styles/influences/trends etc just never seem to leave us. It’s like the 70’s has become a fundamental element in defining fashion seasons and trends.
Every season…..be it Autumn, Winter, Spring or Summer…….there’s a nod to the 70’s in there. Maybe it’s the fact that I was born in the 70’s (yes…you are now closer to finding out my age lol) but I do embrace the 70’s for it’s boldness when it came to fashion and for setting the stage for future style generations to come.
This weeks outfit post has a 70’s Farrah Fawcett touch…..well………without the flowing blonde, freshly blow-dried hair, flawless tanned skin and extra long model-like limbs! Ok it’s nothing like Farrah Fawcett…..it’s just me wearing a denim skirt, a striped red and white shirt and a bandana necktie ha, ha! I admit, I’m still loving midi-length denim skirts – and as you can see from a recent blog post here – if it’s midi-length, buttons down the front or front slit with that whole 70’s vibe – I’m all over it before you can say Charlies Angels!
I’ve teamed the skirt with this fab red and white shirt from Zara (which is coincidently on sale now – see below), my staple summer accessory – the bandana necktie, tan strappy mules and an on-trend flower-appliqué bag. These days I’m finding so much versatility with denim and I have to say, I’m really embracing it – from denim jumpsuits, culottes, skirts, off-the-shoulder dresses and dungarees. Mind you……I’m not so sure my credit card feels the same way! (insert ‘hands-over-the-eyes’ monkey emoji).
This is such a simple look to fuse together and would be perfect for lunch/brunch or drinks with the girls or even on a date. The pieces are also great paired with so many other items in your wardrobe as they are all pretty much staple pieces these days. The bandana necktie trend which is everywhere these days has definitely heightened since Coachella and me being me……had to get one in almost every colour to pair with different outfits of course. I do recall owning bandana’s at one stage though – probably in the 90’s…….what I did with them is a mystery…….but just goes to show, everything comes back into fashion at some point and in some way or another!
The floral appliqué 3D details on bags and accessories was a big trend on the Spring/Summer 16 catwalks with designers such as Fendi showcasing this quirky and cute feature. Many high street and online retailers have followed suit with their own take on the trend including this beauty I picked up from Parfois but has since sold out! Sorry!! I’ve added an alternative on my Shop My Look section below.
