“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers”
-Anne of Green Gables
And never a truer word! I absolutely love October…and here’s why:
a) Autumn……..self explanatory
b) All the fab Autumn/Winter clothes are in stores
c) I LOVE HALLOWEEN
d) I live in Dubai – it starts to cool down FINALLY by the end of October – THANK GOD!
So this blog post is dedicated to this fab Zara poplin shirt which mark my words, not only will it take you through the current season, it will also stretch its longevity into Spring/Summer 2017……..trust me!
And yes, whilst it does EVENTUALLY cool down in Dubai at the end of October (literally counting the days!)…….its still painfully hot and I did turn into a sweaty mess and required a cold shower after getting these photos taken. Just be glad you didn’t see the sweat patches and scary frizzy hair ok!
Why do I love this shirt so much? Loads of reasons but mainly………
a) As mentioned, it’s the type of shirt to bring you through every season. The fab embroidery with a hint of Oriental screams ‘I’m a bit different than your usual plain blue poplin shirt’ but versatile enough to team with so much in your wardrobe.
b) I wore it the other day to an event and so many people stopped me to ask me ‘where from?’. I always have great pleasure telling people – “Zara, it’s in stock now and very affordable!”
c) It can be worn on a night out tucked into a fab pencil or A-line skirt or even denim or leather skinnies and dressed down for during the day with a pair of culottes, denim again, shorts or under dungarees! The options are endless.
d) It’s just soooooo pretty and at AED199.00 / £29.99 – it’s a steal.
e) Style icon, fashionista and my all-time girl crush Olivia Palermo gave it the BIGGEST stamp of approval by wearing it recently at London Fashion Week. I mean……if that hasn’t got you rushing out to buy this shirt right now………I don’t know what would?!
Olivia Palermo showing us how it’s done wearing that fab Zara shirt, cropped leather black trousers (WANT), an orange suede jacket and a J. W. Anderson pierce bag.
For this outfit blog post, I’ve teamed the shirt with a pair of wide-legged cream trousers from Mango which give it a casual but slightly dressy vibe, some H&M tassel earrings and a Zara statement bag. Just remember if you are ever ordering trousers online from Mango and if you are approximately 5ft 5inches like me – you will most definitely need to get them taken up……..ALOT! What is it with these Spanish stores like Zara and Mango – why do they design trousers for Amazonian-like women with legs longer than Gisele and Kendal Jenner combined?

That’s it guys from Gingham and Sparkle this week, thanks for stopping by as always. I haven’t been doing that much fashioney-blog-posts lately as its still just way too hot to take photos and I end up looking like a frazzled, frizzy-haired, sweaty mess! So not a good look! But the fab Dubai winter is slowly creeping in so I can bribe my Instagram husband again for photos…….yipee! Until next time…………..
