It’s All About the Spathroom these days………
Does anyone have a friend who they’ve known for an entirety – since primary school – and who they have maybe taken for granted throughout the years, has had ups and downs with them but deep down can always trust and rely on them? Well………that’s how I feel about The Body Shop! I feel like The Body Shop has always been there…..like an institution. Of course I have always loved and still love the ethical stance The Body Shop takes, especially when it comes to testing on animals……so it always holds a special place in my heart. I remember obsessing over my first beauty product from The Body Shop – ‘White Musk Oil’ which I used to slather on myself every time I entered the place. Years later – I was obsessed with their body butters in particular the Coconut one……which is still a best seller. Then I went through a phase where I ‘lost contact’ I suppose with The Body Shop (like you would with a friend) and kind of distanced myself. That is……..until………..I got wind of their amazing new product line ‘Spa Of The World’ collection and ‘Oils Of Life’ range – which got me very excited and I felt like I needed to make contact with my long lost friend again……and am I glad I did………….
So I decided to try out six of their new products:
Spa Of The World – Dead Sea Salt Scrub
Spa Of The World – Hawaiian Kukui Cream
Spa Of The World – Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil
Oils Of Life – Intensely Revitalising Cream
Oils Of Life – Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil
Oils Of Life – Revitalising Facial Massager
So…….what The Body Shop have created is products containing fabulous, luxurious and precious ingredients from the four corners of the world and have basically enabled you to have a wonderful and sensual spa experience from the comfort of your own home – creating a ‘Spathroom’. Genius!
But first……can we just take a moment to talk about the fabulous packaging. I’m a sucker for anything in a ‘medicinal’ type bottle/packaging and for some reason – ‘see-through’ brown packaging with droppers excites me very much. I think it looks so expensive and looks amazeballs in a bathroom/bath shelf. It kind-of has that inviting ‘come-and-try-me’ look? So these products had me at their beautiful dark brown exterior.
So first up……I tried the Dead Sea Salt Scrub.
As I have mentioned in previous blog posts – I have worked within the airline industry for years and lucky to have spent time in some fabulous spa’s around the world and also time in the Dead Sea itself in Jordan and I have to admit this scrub ticks all the right boxes when it comes to richness, luxury and quality. The value for money is fantastic when you see how large the tub is! The consistency of the scrub itself is so luxurious and creamy that you feel you are also injecting your skin with a big dose of moisture. And lastly……the smell – I will be mentioning the smells of these products a lot because I cannot even deal with how gorgeous they actually smell!
2. Next…….The Hawaiian Kukui Cream
The label on this luxe product states that
‘Hawaiian women, exposed to the relentless sun for generations, have held the secret of Kukui oil to nurture their skin’.
Well if it’s good enough for the Hawaiians……it’s good enough for me! Kukui Oil promises to restore the skins natural suppleness – leaving it nourished and glowing. When applying this cream I did feel that the consistency is extremely rich, hydrating and creamy and reminds me of their best selling body butters which are some of the best body moisturisers you can buy. Again……luxury at your fingertips. With regards to the smell……….I literally could eat this with a spoon- it smells so yummy!
3. Following on with – The Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil
Now this is one product that I can see becoming a cult-buy very fast. First of all…….the smell! When I first used this (and this works particularly well after the Dead Sea Salt Scrub might I add!) I literally couldn’t stop smelling myself. The oil itself is made up of a sacred blend of coconut oil and fragrant Tiare flowers and is quite thick. Only a small amount is needed for your body as it absorbs brilliantly into the skin. I have curly, wavy, frizzy hair (how lucky am I…….not!!) and I’ve been using a tiny amount of the oil to tame my dry hair. I have to say……it is a fab hair product also……..and did I mention the smell? This ‘wonder product’ (I think it’s now fair to call it that) can also be used in the shower – so no need to moisturise after. Plus how amazing would this be when traveling – #multitudeofuses
So…..onto the facial products…..
I am such a sucker when it comes to facial beauty products and I am forever on the hunt for the best moisturiser, face balm, serum, facial oil etc. So after buying and seeing the Spa Of The World products – of course – I had to invest in the facial ones to. I mean……..it would be rude not to……….
Oils Of Life
The Oils Of Life range is based around three powerful precious seed oils:
- Black Cumin Seed Oil from the Egyptian Nile Valley known for its antioxidants.
- Rosehip Oil (my fav!) from the Andes Foothills of Chile, rich in Omega 3 and 6.
- Camelia Seed Oil from the evergreen trees of China – rich in nutritive oleic acid.
First I use……..the Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil
So after cleansing – I applied the Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil consisting of all three gorgeous oils (above). Only a drop or two is required and goes a long way. I also love that it has a plastic/glass dropper (again obsessed with that whole medicinal look) and I think this one has to be one of my favourites with regards to the aroma. I felt like I was in the most luxurious Balinese beach outdoor-spa having a heavenly aromatic facial and listening to the waves crash on the beach….just divine! I absolutely love this product and my skin feels so hydrated and thankful for the infusion of goodness I’m giving it!
Next……..the Twin-ball Revitalising Facial Massager
Ok……so look…..I know this ‘contraption’ looks a bit naughty (you know you were thinking it!!) but honestly…….it’s not a sex toy! This Revitalising Facial Massager is used with the facial oil. I know a lot of these ‘roller-ball’ thingy’s are more of a gimmick than a necessity but I love this and not for the fact that I think it is totally
revitalising my face but more for the fact that I enjoy using it – I like that it kind of pinch’s my skin (its a weird relaxing feeling) and that I’m massaging the oil into my skin even further. Nice little product – when I remember to use it.
And then…..the Intensely Revitalising Cream
After my ‘roller-ball’ antics – I then use the Intensely Revitalising Cream. Again….the smell takes me away to another amazing, tropical, luxurious spa that I never want to leave. There is a gel version of this product but I personally prefer creams as I don’t find them as ‘sticky’ on the skin and with creams – they just seem to sink into the skin so well. This product is no exception – the texture of the cream is gorgeous and silky and sinks into the skin beautifully, without leaving a greasy residue. The cream itself, because of it’s effectiveness and light consistency, can be used both day and night. Again…..I can just hear my skin thanking me – ‘you’re welcome’ 😉
So there you have it……a round up of The Body Shop’s newest range. I love having these products in my bathroom as not only do they look good but they have that aesthetic tendency to turn my bathroom into a ‘spathroom’ – I just love that word!!!
Also to add – these products will probably make the most awesome Christmas presents – for both men and women…..so…..something to consider when doing your Christmas shopping.
Hope you found this review helpful and if you did – I would love to hear from you – so leave a comment below – let me know what you think of these products also and remember………..
