What happens when a legendary beauty empire comes together with an equally legendary and iconic French design house?
A 13-piece limited edition futuristic, fun and innovative make-up collection which has sold out instantly.
I’ve been lucky recently to get my hands on some products from the limited edition Courréges Estée Lauder Collection and after trying them out for a while I thought I’d share my thoughts with you all. So basically, Estée Lauder have teamed up with French fashion designer André Courréges who is famous for his modern and very much futuristic designs in the 1960’s to create a 13-piece limited edition fun and futuristic make-up collection.
With it’s space-age look (which Courréges is known for) and packaging, this collection is simply out of this world – pardon the pun…ha, ha! The collection which is fronted by model-of-the-moment Kendall Jenner (see above) was released in the US and Europe just before the summer and sold out instantly – but the good news is – the limited line is launching in the Middle East in January 2016 and will be available in selected stores. Think of it like the Balmain X H&M collaboration – only lets hope it will be without the queuing, fighting and grabbing at the till frenzy which was seen in H&M everywhere……(inserts gasp!)
So without further ado………lets chat about the products themselves……..
First of all…..we need to stop for a minute and talk about the fab packaging (above) – UH-MAZING! And yes….that’s me in the reflection of the Lip and Cheek Ball – I couldn’t hide myself unless I physically hovered above the products so sorry about that lol! I love anything ‘space-age’, futuristic and modern looking, so to say I’m obsessed with the packaging is an understatement. It is literally unlike anything you have seen before from Estée Lauder and also might I add…….a refreshing break from a lot of the same mundane packaging from many beauty houses. The packaging is mainly white in colour with elements of silver chrome and pink fluorescent labelling – quite aesthetically pleasing.
So, the first product I’m going to review is probably my favourite and the most sought-after item of the collection – The Courréges Estée Lauder Illuminations Face Powder – which is a powder highlighter.
I’m a huge fan of highlighters – both liquid and powder and one of my favourites and one of the most popular ones at the moment is The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer which is hard to beat….but……I have to say, the Courréges Estée Lauder powder has given it a run for its money. It’s a gorgeous golden-champagne colour highlighter and when applied, it gives a lovely, shimmery metallic glow with a subtle matte effect and impressive colour pay-off. It’s so luxurious to use, blended very well and also has very good lasting power.
Next: The Eye Amplifiers in Black Silver and Aqua Silver
These are great, over-all eyeshadows for blending or using as a liner or smokey-eye as the shadows can be used wet or dry and the application can be intensified depending on the look you are going for. Also I really like how they refer to them as ‘Eye Amplifiers’ (instead of just plain old ‘eyeshadows’) – which in effect does result in ‘amplifying’ and enhancing your eyes.
What I love about this also is that there isn’t much fall-out which I always look for in shadows and one of the reasons why I always do my eyes first. Although the shadow looks quite dark in its packaging, it actually translates as a shimmery, soft metallic black.
With an identical formula to the Black Silver, this Aqua Silver Eye Amplifer can also be used wet or dry and gives a nice iridescent, minty green colour to the lids which can be intensified for a more stronger look. Also, because of its pastel, shimmery colour, it looks nice applied to the inner corner of the eye to open it up and again blends very well.
Up Next: The Eye Glide Pencil in Silver Streak
This is soooo easy to use – it literally glides on – and looks fab as a silver eye-liner on both the upper and lower lash line – for definition. As you can see from the video (above) and picture (below) Kendall Jenner is actually wearing the silver pencil. One thing I did notice about this product and a little tip, if you do wish to use it as a shadow all over the eye – the best way to apply it is with your finger…..but…..also remember to apply an eyeshadow primer first or powder.
Following On From This: The Lip and Cheek Ball in Ultra Pink
First things first regarding this product…….the packaging!!! It comes in the coolest, eye-catching silver ball – so you can imagine how fab it looks to whip this out of your handbag for a touch-up. It also doubles up as a mirror – which I found out when I tried taking pictures of it – theres me again ha, ha!! I can’t hide!
Even though the colour is ‘ultra-pink’ – the product itself goes on very sheer and can be easily built up on the skin. I’m a big fan of creamy, rosy, cheek blushes so this one is right up my street and as an added bonus, it is quite moisturising…….so also ideal for the lips with a nice subtle rose colour.
And last but not least……. the Lip Visor in shade: Coral Mini
This does exactly what it says on the box. The colour comes off as a nice coral sheen on the lips and I found it not as sticky as other lip glosses. So that awkward moment, just after you’ve applied your lip gloss and your hair gets blown or swept onto your face and stuck to your lips……..doesn’t really happen thankfully! It also comes is a clear colour called ‘See-through’ and again the packaging is cute in a futuristic-chic sort of way.
So overall, I’m quite impressed with this collaboration and limited edition range as it’s something that’s quite different in terms of aesthetics and packaging and the formulas are ‘up there’ with quality you would expect from Estée Lauder. I’m looking forward to this being released in Dubai and the Middle East in January and also adding to my collection.
Thank you all for stopping by my blog…..hope you found it helpful and leave a comment if you’ve tried any of these products….let me know what you think. I’ll leave you with a final word from Estée Lauder herself………..
