Before you say it…..no I’m not about to go paint the house (contrary to what my husband thought lol!) or hoist myself up a crane to work on a building site…….I’m just, you know – trying to rock the 90’s dungarees trend……emphasis on the ‘trying’ lol!
Dungarees or overalls as they are also known have been back with a bang now for a while – that 90’s influence is still looming large and going nowhere anytime soon. You could say I’m partial to the odd pair of dungarees – see here.
So in an attempt to make them look a tad ‘dressier’ I’ve teamed said black denim dungarees with a cute little white crochet top from Chicwish, tan block heel sandals from New Look and of course some red lippy. I really love how they have the ability to take you from casual to dressy with the mere addition of some accessories and change of top. These actual dungarees from ASOS – who have the best selection and choice by the way – are also super cool with a pair of trainers (Adidas Superstars) and a simple white or grey little t-shirt or body-suit.
Dungarees have definitely been gaining momentum amongst celebrities and bloggers alike and seem to be almost classed as the ‘running-around-doing-errands-whilst-looking-cool’ uniform! In addition, they also look super cool on yummy-mummy-to-be’s with that front part almost acting as a cute little pouch for the bump.
Olivia Palermo is my ULTIMATE style queen and girl crush – look at those shoes!!!!
I reckon dungarees won’t be going ANYWHERE anytime soon, in fact…..I predict a surge in their popularity for Autumn/Winter. Whist they are ideal for summer with pretty little tops, vests, tee’s and off-the-shoulder designs underneath, they are also great for Autumn/Winter with cosy knits and shirts and of course – I have to label them, the perfect layering canvas. I am tempted to purchase a cute dungarees-pinafore dress, again fab for Autumn/Winter be it in Ireland or Dubai.

So thats it from the Dungaree Diaries….ha, ha! Hope you guys enjoyed the post. I do think dungarees are one of those apparel items that you are either gonna love or hate! Much to the dismay of my bank balance – I love them and love to see lots of different variations in the shops. The 90’s is so back and on-trend at the minute that it’s literally banging down 2016’s door and I for one am not complaining. Fashion is supposed to be fun and it’s so interesting and inspiring to see what influences designers, buyers and retailers alike. Let me know what you guys think – is it a ‘yay’ or ‘nay’ for dungarees and are they something you think worth investing in? In the meantime, hope you are all availing of those summer bargains in the sales and until next time, I’ll leave you with this…………
