Lets face it……and I like to think I’m speaking for the majority here…….we don’t all have designer label budgets. As much as we would like to, reality and life hits home and that Gucci, YSL or Chanel bag we are lusting over is still about 6 months savings away. So when a high street dupe comes along and rivals one of the most sought after designer bags of the season, its a no-brainer…….you need to get your hands on said bag and won’t rest until you do so.
Enter the Mango quilted Ginny cross-body bag, a complete dupe of the now infamous, seen-on-every-major-bloggers-Instagram, Gucci GG Marmont matelassé bag. (below)
Now, I won’t lie to you, I would love nothing more than being able to go online or into a Gucci store and buy anything I want including this fab matelassé leather chevron beauty above. But…….my finances don’t allow it……so I think I almost shrieked in delight when I saw this amazing Mango dupe on anther blogger’s account I follow on Instagram. Colour wise….the two bags are almost identical along with the chevron style and to the point where I question Mango with the fact of the matter – how the hell do they get away with almost copying Gucci? Look…….the thought did go through my mind but truth being told, I don’t really care as I absolutely love my little dupe. #sorrynotsorry
Quality wise, I cannot fault the Mango Ginny bag. The leather is super soft with really nice gold hardware on the clasp and chain. Its actually really roomy (my big bulky wallet even fits!!) and the length of the chain/strap to allow for a cross body bag is quite generous (so it actually sits nicely on your body as opposed to sitting on top of your midriff). It looks great teamed with almost any outfit because of its monochrome black and cream detail and for those mega Instagram fans out there…….this really is the most Instagrammable bag of the moment.
The good news is….the price. For my Dubai peeps, it’s a steal at AED159 both online (on Namshi – buy here) and in the Mango retail stores. See here to purchase in Ireland or the UK. So even if this fab bag was to ‘date’ in a couple of months/seasons – the fact that you paid a fraction of the designer price, softens the blow a bit. I for one, love a good bargain and I do pride myself in saying – I will always champion the high street (I’m definitely a high street girl at heart) so when our favourite European, Irish and UK retailers come up with the goods, I am literally all over it! I have to give it to Mango also this season, in terms of their accessories and ladies fashion – they are killing it!
• My white puffed-sleeves top is also Mango and is current stock – available to buy online here on Namshi
• My jeans are old from H&M (I’ve cut the ends to give them more of a trendy edge) – you can buy similar here
• My gold sliders are from Zara which I have a couple of months now – buy similar here
Anymore amazing ‘dupes’ I come across, I’ll make sure to let you guys know! Thank you as always for stopping by my blog, hope you enjoyed reading it and let me know if you find any great high street ‘designer dupes’……….
Until next time……remember………
