Prepare yourself ladies… there’s a new shoe in town and it’s planning on staying around for a while.
Enter the mid-height block heel pumps – and be warned – you will be seeing these shoes EVERYWHERE in the next coming months. In fact, they are already starting to sneak into the high street and I for one am really excited! They have that classic feel and air to them, so stylish either paired with a casual outfit or a going-out, dressy look. And did I mention – comfy! Yes, the heel is low enough not to feel like you’ve been walking on stilts all night but still has that ‘yes-I’m-walking-on-heels’ feeling. Already, the high street is awash with an array of fab colours for Autumn/Winter in suede, leather and metallic finishes.
But for this particular blog post, I’m going to focus on the shoes I’m wearing in the pics – the Chanel block-heel sling-back pump dupes.
Ok I’ll be honest, when I first saw the Chanel block heel sling-backs at the end of last year, I wasn’t entirely sure? I thought – more ‘Granny-chic’ than ‘stylish-chic’ and wasn’t entirely convinced? Then as time went on, they sort of grew on me – so much so – that I kinda became obsessed. I’m not the only one that gets like that……..am I? Anyway, they seemed to be popping up on every big blogger I follow and I knew I needed them in my life ha, ha. It’s similar to when you hear a song for the first time and either don’t like it or not sure, and then you keep hearing it and before you know it – it’s on repeat on your iTunes playlist and you can’t download it quick enough! So basically, after doing a bit of research on them online and finding out they are actually quite difficult to find and buy, I stumbled upon a site – Loéil – that actually sells these AMAZING dupes. I mean……..they are just perfect. I was a bit dubious as they are a complete copy and first thing I thought – ‘oh dear, are these going to be from China and probably too small for my size 5 feet?’ So I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived in their individual branded soft-material shoe-bags in an another larger shoe-bag and hands-down, I have to give it to Loéil….great quality. In addition to finding these superb dupes, I’m so happy I’ve found this site, as their clothing, shoes and accessories are right up my street – clean and minimal.
You will see when you log onto the Loéil site, they have the Chanel dupes in both the soft beige (which are exactly like the originals colour-wise) and the white. They also have the flat versions in both colours which are also super cute. The one thing I will say is that they are sometimes sold-out of the shoes…….but you can pre-order and they usually come back in stock within a week. I pre-ordered the soft-beige ones and had them from the time I pre-ordered to when they actually arrived at my door – within 2 weeks so not bad overall. They also advise on the site when ordering – to go up a half-size. I’m a size 5 (American size 7) and I ordered a size 7.5 and glad I did as they fit perfectly.
I haven’t seen the actual real Chanel sling-backs yet in person but what I will say about these dupes is that the quality is really good – the synthetic leather is quite soft and the black toe is made of a hard textured material. After getting these, it got me thinking though – do I really want to invest in the ‘real-deal’ now that there are so many dupes of these Chanel sling-backs doing the rounds online and on the High Street? River Island and Zara – I’m looking at you too! Don’t get me wrong, I would absolutely love to own a piece of Chanel someday (Chanel Boy Bag maybe??) and I do think these shoes are complete classics and will still look stylish in years to come but again, its the fact that they are now so easily accessible which on one hand is great but it kinda turns me off. Know what I mean? Putting it into perspective – it’s like the Self-Portrait dresses and Triangl bikinis. When they first came out, they were kind of ‘exclusive’……as in the designs were the brainstorms of the brands themselves and were the ‘IT’ dresses and ‘IT’ bikini’s and then slowly but surely, the High Street and various online retailers started following suit and lo and behold – the designs were everywhere. Kinda like Instagram copying Snapchat ha, ha!!!
But for now, I am head-over-heels (pardon the pun!) with my little Chanel dupes. They are literally my fav shoes at the moment and just go with everything from jeans to dresses. I particularly love them paired with distressed denim as I love that whole ‘elegant meets edgy’ look and gives the pumps a new lease of stylish life. For this look in the pics, I went with a pair of grey distressed jeans, a pretty sheer and crochet top, my YSL bag and a pop of colour with the yellow tassel earrings.
